Thane MP Naresh Mhaske met Minister Prataprao Jadhav to get approval for Navi Mumbai Municipal Medical College.

The admission process of the self-owned Medical College of Navi Mumbai Municipality has been stopped due to lack of inspection despite the approval of various departments of the Central and State Governments. Newly elected MP Naresh Mhaske met Health and Family Welfare Minister Prataprao Jadhav in Delhi today and requested through a statement that the National Medical Science Commission should immediately inspect the college and pave the way for starting the college.

Pursuit is underway to start a self-owned postgraduate medical college under the name of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) under the Health Department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation in Thane Lok Sabha Constituency.  Approval has been obtained from various departments of Central Government, State Government and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.  MP Naresh Mhaske pointed out to Health and Family Welfare Minister Prataprao Jadhav that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has submitted an application for approval to the National Medical Science Commission for five subjects namely medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, surgery, orthopedics.

The prescribed fee and required documents are submitted to the National Medical Commission. However, as per the guidelines of the commission, after submitting the application, the further approval process takes place after inspecting the postgraduate medical college as per the prescribed rules.  Mr. Naresh Mhaske informed the Health and Family Welfare Minister Prataprao Jadhav that the commission has informed the municipality that the application of the municipality will be considered in the academic year 2024-2025 as this year's admission process has not been done due to the lack of inspection in the academic year 2023-24.

Postgraduate students of Navi Mumbai need to start proceeding with the entrance exams for the year 2025-26 as the process of admission to postgraduate colleges across India is about to begin. Due to this college, lakhs of poor patients of ​​Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Alibaug, Pen and Khopoli  will be greatly facilitated.
